G2C Project- A Tool for Good Governance

Bhutan is the land of peace and the people living here does love peace. The main guiding philosophy of all the developmental activities in Bhutan, the Gross National Happiness (GNH) is supported by four pillars. The forth pillar, Good Governance is one important pillar that the government of the day has been focusing. The G2C or the Government to Citizen Project is at its full swing with government's main focus to take the services to the doorstep of the citizen. It is aimed at delivering services more efficiently and effectively without people having to go from office to office in order to avail the services.

There has been established a Community Centers (CC) in every Gewog where the people can avail basic services through e-governance. The government has been working on putting most of the services online. The delivering of services online is e-governance. This can also help reduce the face to face interaction of the clients and the service provider. In this way some form of corruption like favoritism and nepotism could be prevented. In order to avail these online services, CCs have been established with one or two operators helping the people avail the services. The online services delivery saves time and resources for our people and most importantly, the services are delivered in time.

The G2C office under the Prime Minister's Office has been working towards digitizing most of the services which can be delivered online and making available for the people. The office also creates awareness among the citizens and also provides hands on training for the service providers. If this project becomes successful, the service delivery will become more efficient and the forth pillar of GNH will be accomplished. It is the responsibility of each and every one of us who knows about the G2C services to abreast our people about the availability of such facilities in their own villages so that, they can make use of CCs and at the same time, the objective of our beloved Kings and the Government could be fulfilled.
